In this course we’ll be creating a WordPress theme called Cats Who Code! In this lesson, you'll download some project files, and then we'll quickly go over the files and directories in that project so that you become familiar with the structure of a WordPress site and so that you know which files to modify when creating a new theme.
Let's look at the backend of your site. There's the basic server-stuff from HostGator in a folder called Public_HTML. All of the files we're going to be using for our theme are in the wp-content folder. You'll find three default themes already inside.
Everything else that comes with WordPress is known as the core. You never want to update the core. So be sure not to mess with it.
